This fashion fitted tank displays a classic Mainbocher cotton dress from 1951. The dress was typically stylish for the 50's featuring a "cracked" petticoat worn over a crinoline half slip. Mainbocher was a fabulous US born designer who opened his own French design house in 1922. He was the first American to become a successful dressmaker in Paris and was known for his lavish use of luxury fabrics.
